I do believe I have become lactose intolerent in a year or so could this have anything to do with my thyroid? I am actually having my remaining gland removed next month and then of course going to medication for the rest of my life.

Good luck with your op ,I had mine removed also. As for the lactose, well we seem to get intolerant to loads of things once we have thyroid issues. Best wishes, let us know how you get on.

Hi, I became lactose intolerant after having gall bladder removed 12 years ago!!

I did not have any signs of thyroid problems at that time.

Hi Ann, are you on B12 replacement therapy? Gall bladder removal or any gastric surgery can leave you with a lifelong inability to absorb B12. I had a nose at some of your other posts (hope you don't mind!) and your symptoms seem consistent with this deficiency. It is common to be misdiagnosed and end up on anti-depressents...

I have been doing a bit of reading up on the issue of lactose intolerance and have started to put a document together - this is an early draft:

Hopefully it might be of some interest.

This is interesting as I have been lactose intolerent for about 40+ years, ever since i first had thyroid problems. Fine before that. However, never heard of a paper on it.

Some one should do a paper, I will suggest to my Endo. She recently had a paper published in BMJ about Caeliac, not always showing on tests, may be slight connection there. She has done a lot of work on motility.
