A quick question about fatigue if I may...

MissBfirstDanBlackBelt profile image

Spring has arrived and I have increased my fitness regime as I invariably do when the weather improves. I work out all year round but then resume running to enjoy the better weather. When the awful dragging weariness comes, should I take note and rest that day or work through with a slightly easier exercise plan on those bad days? Any advise would be much appreciated. :)

First make sure you have been tested for TSH, T4 and Free T3 for the correct treatment. Sometimes now just the TSH done,( cost) not sufficient. If GP will not test the 3 you can get them on line.If the thyroid is correctly treated, then you should feel Ok. It can take a year or so with re tests and adjustments to medication. If FT3 low then you need treatment with T4 ( levo) and T3.Also make sure that you have the other bloods done, mostly hormonal and autoimmune. Vit d ( if low corrected calcium before treatment), Diabetes, B12 and Folic acid, Ferritin/ iron. There are other tests but all these normally considered essential, especially by good Endo`s

Best wishes,

Jackie

Hi,

I have been suffering with this dragging tiredness you have described and, after a couple of years of requesting and arguments with my GP, my endo did a full iron profile. The result came back "slightly" deficient but after 6 weeks of iron tablets taken with VitC to help with absorbtion (I need to take them for 3 months) the awful tiredness is lifting. I now have a spring in my step and have stopped "dragging" myself through the day.

Have an iron profile done as well as VitD, B12 etc.
