Hi. I’ve just joined this group. I’ve had IBS for 30 years or so. Usually I can ignore it except for flare- ups like the one I’ve been having for about 6 weeks. I take Buscopan but at the moment it’s not helping. I’m under a lot of stress at home and I’m sure this what’s causing it. Diet-wise I’m vegan. I don’t drink alcohol and I only have 2 cups of coffee a day. Just thought I’d join this group for tips/support/etc. I’m a member of the heart group among others. Thanks

Hi and welcome. I don't understand from your post how do you take Buscopan, what exactly are your symptoms, as there are many forms of IBS... Buscopan is for cramps, pain caused by spasms etc... Do you take anything else?
Hi. Cramps mainly and constipation. I tried linseeds in the past but it gave me horrible cramps. I’ve had investigations: results were all IBS. Buscopan: 2 10mg tablets 4x a day. I’d cut down to 3x as it hadn’t bothered me for a long time but because of stress caused by family issues the cramps are back and I’m back to the original dosage. I find that putting a heating pad on my abdomen helps.
Stress is definitely a huge issue. Heating is always good, but you can't walk around with a heating pad ;). Try to understand that your body is only one, all other issues in life come and go, but your body has an expiration date. One day at a time, one smile at a time... Life is life, always something. No one understands what ibs is better then you and us who suffer. Buscopan helps only up to a point. I use essential peppermint oil in gel capsules when it's painful, bloated. I drink Organic Triphala (Ayurvedic) every morning... Gluten free, dairy free, regular walks, doing arts etc. Music, or just breathe when it gets tough. Couple of deep breaths can help.
Even if you manage to share your problems with someone who will understand, calms your ibs.
I would definitely recommend Meditation and EFT Tapping. A recovery program such as the Gupta Program is brilliant too (I have been in it since July and reached over 80% recovery).
Take a look at the links on my website - aliwadedesigns.com. ** Briefly, EFT tapping, or Emotional Freedom Technique, is a mind-body technique where you tap specific acupuncture points on your body while focusing on a specific issue or feeling you want to address, potentially reducing stress, anxiety, and other emotional difficulties. ** The Gupta Program is an advanced neuroplasticity, brain retraining program designed to help individuals with complex illnesses, particularly chronic conditions, by teaching them how to retrain their minds and calm their nervous systems to support healing. ** This YouTube channel @TheCalmHappyGut is really helpful too.
