SIBO and fevers

Does SIBO causes fevers or is that an unrelated symptom? I had low grade fevers (up to 38.4C) for about a year coinciding with food allergy symptoms. Never found out the cause and i've been discharged now.

I was diagnosed with SIBO this year. Although I have various symptoms as well as the bloating…. No, I don’t get a fever.

I tend to be IBSC and the bloating is v uncomfortable - esp in the evening. I also have horrible acidic taste (10 yrs at least) though not reflux, strangely. I have painful gums, but not infected and my teeth are healthy … I think it’s a sort of “burning mouth syndrome “ - which is another delight. Gynae gave me rifamixin earlier in the year (sorry, not certain when unless I check it out) and maybe it helped a bit ?….But now Im back where I was before. Try to keep low fodmap and gluten free. Recently I started with atopic eczema - off and on- but no idea if that is a reaction to food as I haven’t had an allergy test. My diet has been pretty bland for years - no red meat, minimal cheese/dairy. I did try some spelt bread recently and that may have caused a reaction. Very little fruit, but have a fresh apple juice sometimes that I dilute and it is not sweet. I thought I was doing a bit better about 8 weeks ago and so we dared to go away for a week (last week). I am now struggling to get back to how I was before we went away.

I do have some stress as my husband had a stroke 2 years ago and has prostate cancer. He is doing very well really but I am his carer and sadly our family are not supportive. However we have (and have had) a good life and we do consider ourselves fortunate. Plenty of friends and interests and we are quite active. I’m 78 and he is 79.

I take omeprazol sometimes when I think it might help and my laxative is ducosate, which is much easier than cosmocol etc to take. It’s just a tablet - haven’t needed it for some time but I need it just now.

I conclude we have to find our own way through this. I know how my gut has altered over time and I know it will continue to do so. No easy answers. The discomfort I feel is neuropathy and not an illness

I wish you well and I hope you find sources of help- and also peace of mind.
