urinary issues
Hi.
Sorry to hear about your situation. I too, when I experience a flare up, have some urinary issues which peeing more often when the anxiety is high! Also more often than not if I have a up of tea or coffee in the evening, the caffeine will agitate my bowel so that I will probably have to go to the toilet to pee at least once during the night!
Hope that helps.
Take care. x
yes, I always seem to need to pee very often and it feels like there is some inflammation. I have read that the colon swells and puts pressure on the bladder
Don't know if you are male or female but I am female and in 2021 I had the worst flare up of what I thought was ongoing IBS I had ever had. A few days earlier I had a very bad water infection (or at least I thought that) and got my urine tested as well as asking GP for advice... I was told by this GP that it is unlikely to be related however the water issues remained ongoing. I was going around in circles and the problem was getting worse. I ended up paying to see gastro and a colonoscopy revealed the patchy pancolitis; when I saw the consultant I asked about a link with needing to pass water so much more etc and he said it is entirely plausible because if the colon is swollen it could press on the bladder! So, in my case if I have a mini flare (I don't get big flares now as I am on meds) I know the bladder will play up too...
Yes i do if you have ibs my GP said you then often have overactive bladder also
The IBS Network describes this as a common side effect of IBS, and certainly one I get. It is probably a combination of pressure on the bladder (or prostate if you’re a man) caused by excessive bowel movement, and anxiety from the IBS symptoms themselves (the “flight or fight” response tends to make everyone need the toilet more). It’s annoying, but then so is IBS, but I find it tends to resolve itself when the other IBS symptoms improve.
Well yes, I think the pressure -due to wind for example- makes it worse, and being an older guy the flow is not so easy. And when my sleep is disrupted it's a hoot as for some reason I just can't stop peeing.
