Hi everyone,
Does any of you have Obstructed Defaecation Syndrome caused by Dyssynergic Defecation?
I have been referred to biofeedback therapy that I will start on the 21st of May. I hope it will be helpful for me.
Sorry to hear that you have this.
I have just been reading about it, online. For a while now I have been thinking that my bowel is malfunctioning, in addition to the IBS. It looks as if the bio feedback will be really helpful.
Good luck. Please let us know how you get on.
Thank you! I will definitely let you know. Can I ask why you think your bowel is malfunctioning? What are your symptoms if you don't mind me asking?
My symptoms can be similar to those described in the syndrome. It seems to be a struggle.
A Defecating proctogram would be helpful to find out. Can you ask your GP or GI doc about it?
I’ve just had the Proctogram procedure on Thursday. I’ve never heard of Dyssenergic Defecation . I’ve never actually been told I have IBS. The nearest I got was ‘You have an IBS kind of thing’. For many years, I’ve felt that I am unable to fully empty my bowels. Over the last 4 years all my bowel symptoms have been much worse. After a bowel movement I can feel extremely faint, light headed and dizzy. It’s a frightening feeling. Walking has become extremely difficult owing to low down pressure front and back body. I was eventually referred to a Pelvic Floor Consultant. He referred me to a Pelvic Floor Therapist who also specialises in dysfunctional bowel problems. It was this lady who referred me for the Proctogram. My next appointment with her is mid June, so I won’t get the results until then. I’m 76, live alone and to be honest, over the last 4 years my life has totally changed. I rarely leave the house. I’ve only had 1 appointment with the physiotherapist, but for 2 hours she questioned me regarding all my symptoms. Over the last 4 years, not 1 Consultant asked me the questions she asked. I’ve no idea what the actual ‘therapy’ will be, but I’m pinning all my hopes on Kirsten . For the first time in years, I feel hope. I had a Sigmoidoscopy 3 weeks ago which showed Diverticular Disease. I waited 11 months (NHS) to see the Pelvic Floor Consultant. I’ve just been reading about the Dyssenergic Defecation . I have suffered as far back as a child with constipation, but adult years it’s more going from being unable to go and running to the loo. Thank you for posting, I’ve found your post very interesting. I hope you get the help you need 🙏
I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. And the waiting time... omg. just too much. I'm from Hungary and I did the test there (as it is a lot cheaper there) and that's where I got the diagnosis. I also have a rectocele. In theory, you can actually check if you have this dyssenergic defecation by checking if your anus is relaxing. To be honest, I'm afraid of doing it but maybe you are not. I hope you get help and relief soon!!
