I've never had any trouble with fruit juices. I'm IBS-D, formerly IBS-M.

I do know that some fruit juices are FODMAP while other are not. Here's what Dr Google tells me:

"It's perfectly appropriate to drink juices made from cranberries, bananas, grapefruits, lemons, grapes, and pineapples as long as they don't contain corn syrup. It's best when the juice is made fresh from organic fruits without added sugar"

For me most fruit juices are a no no as they are too acidic for me but we are all different

Fruit juice is pleasant but watch the quantity. Citrus is possibly the safest.

And some berry juice.

Grape doesn't work for me.

If you were including bananas in a smoothie scenario use greenish ones.

Like all things IBS,just try it things out in a methodical way.

There is a high degree of personalisation with anything to do with IBS. Some people are OK with certain FODMAPs for instance, others are not. This means rather than restricting your diet based on what google tells you, the best thing to do is to try what you fancy and/or is healthy for you and give it a go. Start in small quantities (1/3 of a normal portion size), don't change anything else in your diet that you'd normally tolerate and keep a food diary. Try incrementing the amount every 2-3 days until you reach a normal portion size. If you tolerate the smaller amount, but not the next level, cut back to the smaller amount for longer and try again. Sometimes it is a case of having specific foods in certain smaller quantities, than not having them at all. This helps to increase variety in the diet, which helps diversify the microbiome, which helps with IBS symptoms. You may find there are certain FODMAP containing foods you'll never tolerate even in small amounts - foods containing mannitol are like that for me.

A lot will depend on which aspect of the syndrome affects you. For instance orange juice and pineapple juice are both helpful with IBS-C - if you can tolerate the acidity and pineapple is gentler but obviously they are liable to make IBS-D worse. I am classified as being C but my problems really come with extremely painful episodes of D so I approach all juices with caution! Trial and error as already mentioned and small steps.

Hello

It's an entirely personal thing as to whether it will be good for IBS or not. Some people tolerate it, so me it doesn't bother. I'm sort of borderline. I can have half a glass now and then but not every day. I just cant eat citrus fruits at all, most other fruits are fine but not citrus and I suppose fruit juice comes into that category. You'll just have to try it and see how you go. Good luck 🤞
