TMI post regarding stool...

Hi, I am fairly new here but have spent a lot of time on the forum reading through people's posts and advice. It is very reassuring to know how many of us are in the same boat, and I have avoided writing this post for a while.

I was diagnosed with IBS D around 10 years ago. I go through phases where I seem okayish for 6 months, and then will have a bad few months where I am relying on Immodium to go out. I'm getting married in August and bought a tight dress when i was going through a good spell.. now i am in a bad spell I am petrified of not being able to get out of it quick enough!

Anyway, my question is... does anyone ever have stringy like things in their stool? I have seen this many years ago and did a stool test with my GP which found no parasites or anything. It looks like a bit of hay/straw?

I also sometimes have stringy mucus, which i have read to be normal for IBS?

A little mucus is normal so my Gastro said. Can't explain your stringy stool, if it still concerns you suggest another visit to GP wish you 🍀

Yes! This happened to me when I did a recent stool test. I told the doctor and they said tape worms but it looked nothing like them at all. I never found out what it was 🤨
