IBS flare up after Covid vaccine

My brother 71 was diagnosed with IBS. the condition was brought under control with strict anti-inflammation diet and protocol. Eating no grains, legumes, sugar or dairy. Lifestyle changes with Everything from limiting chemicals, home related cleaning products and solvents in daily work and home life. changes in food preparation and storage. He even Installed a home water filter system .

I deal with multiple food allergies and was diagnosed last year with clinically low thyroid, also autoimmune.

We all thought what my brother was doing to treat his IBS was over the top. However it worked and kept him from steroids treatment for the condition.

I surprised to find the same protocol being recommended for my thyroid addiction to in thyroid replacement medication. I found startling improvement and have decided to hold off taking Synthroid prescription until these changes no longer work.

I have hesitated getting the vaccine as mandates didn’t affect me and I just didn’t know how my body would react given my multiple food allergies. I wanted to wait until more reports came in concerning vaccine side effects.

My brother knew my choice and contacted me concerning his severe IBS flare up post vaccine Constant diarrhea and abdominal pain and nausea. The anti-inflammation protocol is no longer working. He is taking prescribed steroids to hopefully help get it back into control.

I don’t know what happens from here. I wonder if they will test him for Crohn’s disease and will need to take an immune suppressing biologic.

He is working with a gastroenterologist. I’m praying he will not have to take a biologic. A close friend past away last summer with cancer after a decade and d taking a biologic for to treat severe Crohn’s. She died shy of her 49th birthday.

He has no intentions of getting a booster.

I'm not sure IBS can "turn into" Crohn's. I don't know about IBS, but there's research out there that says vaccines do not lead to flares for people with IBD and colitis. And there is, of course, a good chance of gastrointestinal issue if you actually come down with Covid.

Here's what the group said about it:
