Hi

Just had a telephone consult with the pharmacist re my meds. She mentioned the link between amytriptyline and dementia, and I’m not freaked out!

That drug has been a life saver in many ways. I want to continue with it but now I’m scared and my anxiety is through the roof.

Any thoughts? Xx

I would contact the physician who prescribed the medication and discuss with him or her.

Blister4, search on "anxiety thiamine" and "IBS thiamine". Also see how it may benefit dementia. Thiamine needs magnesium to become bioactive. Research anti thiamine factors that diminish thiamine. Always consult with your health care professional before using any supplement.

Hi Now that is very interesting, I never thought to look at why these drugs are pre disposing to dementia and the research does not refer to it.

Looking now at The whole vit b1 connection.

Thanks for highlighting that.

Blister4, yes amitriptyline is an inhibitor of thiamine transport in addition to others in this first link. The other link is a comprehensive list from the stuttering blog of other thiamine diminishers.
