IBS & prediabetes
I've just been diagnosed with Pre Diabetes. I have severe IBS and have been on a restricted, mostly carb diet for years. What can I do? Dairy and sunflower oil intolerant. Border line for yeast.

Hi. Sorry I’ve not got the answer as I too have IBS and bile acid malabsorption, so there’s a lot I can’t eat. I’m on binder medication but still can only eat carb based things. I was pre diabetic for many years and then tipped into the range a couple of years back and now have to take metformin to control it. I hope someone finds an answer for you!
You probably need to see a dietician and/or nutritionist. For my part, I have IBS and my wife has diabetes, so I don't welcome the combination. However, my understanding is that diabetes and IBS are often caused by carbohydrates, sugars, etc, and less so by protein. So a diet high in the latter (though not completely excluding carbohydrates) might help with both. But I agree it's a difficult juggling act, and there is unlikely to be a perfect solution.
