It’s supposed to dry you up a bit. But I’m not sure you can be on it for a long time because it’s addictive. Be careful with this drug with certain jobs that require medicals. The CAA for example really don’t like anyone on this
Yes I'm on Amitriptyline and this is the only thing that helps me.
Im on Amitriptyline it helps
Hi, I started amitriptyline about 2 months ago and to be honest not seen any change as of yet. Mine is to block the pain from IBS-C. Hopefully it kicks in soon. But no side effects like sickness or anything xx
Works for me am currently on it 10mgs but can take up to 30 mgs works for IBS D onlyand you need to take it daily and only on prescription. I also do yoga and meditation and know my own triggers although they do vary. I don't drink alcohol or smoke and eat mainly food cooked from scratch. I have had IBS for nearly 10 years and this medication has been the best one for me although there must be others.
I have taken Duloxetine for 16 years for Clinical Depression. Tried Sertraline as was almost hospitalised!! I am guessing this is why I don't suffer much pain and just take Buscopan. I hadn't realised this
I’ve taken Amitriptyline for many many years, stopped them a few times but always go back, it’s either that or trying loads of other stuff unsuccessfully. I always say that you have to weigh up what gives you quality of life, and unfortunately that is what keeps me from banging on the Docs door repeatedly.
I don't specifically take it for IBS, but I also have Fibromyalgia and I take it for nerve pain and sleep. It works well. As it is a tricyclic antidepressant, your doctor might indicate it could help with IBS symptoms by reducing anxiety which is so common with IBS. Perhaps ask your doctor if you can try it?
