Does anybody take pregabalin for IBS c pain? Does it work?

Pregaabalin
I take pregablin but its not for my ibs. It helps me with my problems. Try it you never know it might help you. Good luck.
I did use pregabalin for anxiety related symptoms and found it helpful. Now I know that my anxiety and depression amongst others are being caused by a dysfunctional bowel.
Hi Edwangy. I've just checked the common side effects for Pregaabalin and it seems that constipation is on the list. Not saying you should completely discount it if you have IBS C, everyone's different and it might not cause a problem for you. Just something to be aware of if your not already.
Thanks, I'm aware of that. If it stops my pain, I'll deal with the constipation
Cool, could you let me know how you get on? I could also do with something to stop IBS C pain, but I'm a bit reluctant to ask for anything in case it makes the constipation worse.
I know what you mean, that's the last thing I want too. I only started them yesterday lowest dose of 25mg morning and night, my GP is going to ring me again on Thursday to see how if they agree with me and are working, he'll decided whether to increase the dose or try something else if symptoms get worse ( I don't think the pain can get any worse) I'll let you know how I get on, keeping my fingers crossed x
Hello again, just thought I'd let you know that the pregablin didn't do anything but cause worse constipation. My GP has just prescribed me with mirtazapine today so I'm going to take my first one tonight. It takes about 1 week or two to kick in apparently but I'm hoping it'll help me sleep sooner than that.
Ah sorry it didn't work. Hopefully you will get better results with the mirtazapine x
Hope so. Have you found anything that helps with your IBS C pain?
Can't say that I have. I'm toying with the idea of trying amitriptyline, but I'm a bit worried about the side effects. Much like pregablin it can make constipation worse and it can cause fatigue, which I already suffer from due to my IBS.
It's so annoying that anything that is touted as good for IBS pain will invariably list constipation as a side effect.
Hi again, have you tried anything different for your pain lately? x
Can't say that I have I'm afraid. At the minute the pain has died down a bit so nausea is more of an issue for me right now. I'm looking into what (if anything) I can do about that. Are you still taking mirtazapine?
No, I thought I'd give it another go but it makes me feel awful the next day, extremely lethargic but still in pain. I'm trying the pregablin again, I'm getting a bit more sleep with it but am having problems with constipation and pain. Don't know what to do for the best, but I definately won't take mirtazapine again, it's awful
I'm sorry to hear that. I don't have anything I can suggest I'm afraid but I hope you find something that helps you soon x
