Hello yes in response to RedTeddy I have been on Amitriptyline for three years now and I am sure it helped with my I.b.s.It Just seems to slow things down.It can sometimes cause slight constipation but for me nothing too bad.I would definitely give it a go.It really helped with my anxiety and helps me to sleep if I take two.

I have tried the low fod map diet but apart from identifying that I couldn’t tolerate onions and broccoli it didn’t make much difference.I knew about those two anyway.

So I would recommend taking the amitriptyline. There is nothing to worry about.I used to take fluoxidine but amitriptyline for me are better. Its worth trying them.

Good luck!

Thank you BlueDevon, that does put my mind at ease. I'm glad they helped you and hopefully if I do end up taking them they will help me too.

Hi BlueDevon,I hope you are feeling not too bad today.

I have been taking Amitriptyline for about 8 years or more. It seems to help with my IBS, it also helps with my anxiety issues because I am on a depression dose so it helps with my sleeping pattern.
