Lots of wind followed by watery stools

I just wanted to give my ibs story which I haven't done yet,I've given advice and tips to a few posts but not reason why I'm here. Tummy issues were always a thing from 9 or 10(and now I'm 40)feeling sick or having hot water bottles when I was young, appendix removed at 12, diarrhea (or the urgency to get to the loo)was and still is my biggest anxiety...I went on codeine phosphate at 17 and came off at 23 when I got pregnant( both pregnancys was when my ibs was my least concern perhaps because I felt sick alot and that distracted me)during my 20s and early 30s I was dismissed from GP visits with "make a diet diary" "cut out dairy" "yeah gluten free could help" "ibs is such a tricky condition to cure" years and years I've been in dispear wondering why I couldn't be referred to a specialist and then a friend said just cry your eyes out make the gp feel so uncomfortable and demand a referral, cut a long story short I got referred, stool samples were tested, blood was tested,I had a abdominal scan, and I was told I had severe impaction,at the top of my intestine, most likely due to self medicating with codeine and immoduim, I wouldn't be getting a endoscopy because my tests came back fine and I wasn't jundist(still not sure why that would entitle me to the endoscopy) basically I needed to stop taking block up meds forever and eventually the impaction would pass....i felt so frustrated, the only reason I took block up meds was my constant fear of accidents now this lady is telling me to come off them...

She had also briefly suggested colonic irrigation not available on the NHS so I found a lady and I paid for 1 treatment, it was insane watching it leave my body(your meant to get 3 sessions but it was out of my price range) I tried for a few months coming off immoduim (haven't used codeine phosphate in 5 years) but I still do take immodium when I'm wanting to enjoy a day out, when I'm nervous about something, the colonic if I'm honest didn't make a difference infact it left me for 3 months after with constant trapped wind, perhaps because my colon had been washed clean after years of impaction but I still have my anxiety probably as bad or worse ,I still have watery poops more than solid poops, food seems to travel through my intestines quicker than medically possible,I really suffer with wind more now than ever thats usually the first sign I've got rush to the toilet. So when I've had immodium and I don't need to poop for 1 whole day it feels incredible i feel safe and like I can do anything of course the next day come down is horrible but usually worth that 1 day of no rushing to the loo.

I'm sorry to hear this. I'm suffering too. Have for a very long time..but mine is opposite. I have severe and chronic constipation..for decades. I depend on a massive amount of a stimulant laxative (Senna) which is the only thing that has helped me. I too have been dismissed by gastro's. Only time I don't get dismissed is when they get a lot of money to do a colonoscopy. I find gastro's useless and have given up on really getting help for this condition. It ruins your quality of life. I'm at my wits end. I (last weekend) took Senna..but nothing like it usually does. Just an urge to go..only to not be able to urinate. Just watery very loose movements. No stool. I was in terrible pain in my lower abdomen. I finally relented and took an Uber Cab to E.R. and back. Turns out I had impaction from rabbit pellets in a big ball on my rectum from what E.R. physician told me after looking at my x-rays. Had to have a hospital soap sud enema. But now feeling lousy again and only producing rabbit pellets..no actual stool. 😞

I know someone who uses at home colon irrigation. I think it is called Irresodo (?). She irrigates every other day and says it really works for her. I'm too nervous to do this for myself, that I would shake so badly from nerves and anxiety. But the irrigation is from what I know for people with constipation.. chronic and Severe and not for IBS-D. Who told you to do this? Do you get constipation. I'm surprised a doctor would have you do this. Have you tried Rifaxam? I hope I spelled it right or anti spasming meds like Levsin or Bentyl. The only thing about imodium is in short term use for a bout if diarrhea..and it will constipate you. Not really meant for Chronic IBS.

Have you heard of Tenesmus? If you can Google it, as it sounds like a situation you may be going through but I'm no expert. I've heard a lot of posters on here talk about a med called Buscopan. As far as trapped wind have you tried colon massage? Sometimes that helps me get rid of it. Sometimes I take Gas-X. I hope others will chime in with helpful tips. I'm wondering about a condition called "dumping syndrome" for food traveling so quickly through you. I am now seeing a colon and rectal specialist as I think gastro's are dismissive. I also suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks which probably doesn't help our situation, so I thank God for Klonopin I am prescribed. I hate that we all have to suffer. I have poor quality of life. No fun at all..

Hi ya, I imagine when you've spent years with back up and constipation you'd probably appreciate my condition,I have and do experience constipation but only because of self medicating with immodium over the years,it's actually great when I can't go but then the 2 days or so after my bowels play catch up and it's pretty painful and exhausting.I haven't taken many of the medicines you've mentioned..I have however just started having peppermint oil capsules extra strength and I think their making a slight difference but can't be sure yet.I can't think of any helpful advice for your constipation, except the food items that I'd love to have but can't wheat, brown bread, wheat, wheatabix &shreddies fizzy drinks, insoluble veg like peas, sweetcorn,broccoli..chocolate...all this would literally burn through my colon and I'd have a explosive situation on my hands. However their aren't many food types that thicken my stools.
