random panic with ibs

Does anyone ever get it even when they aren’t having a flare up that they’ll suddenly panic about their stomach and lose their appetite for like 20 mins an hour or so? I’m good at managing mine but sometimes it will just hit?

Hi, I sometimes have this a sheer onslaught of panic, then my stomach plays up and I loose my appetite, It comes out of nowhere and I find it very disturbing. I try not to panic so my stomach will settle down but it’s hard to do and hard to explain to others what is going on IBS is the worst thing I’ve ever had, many don’t realise how it affects you it affects my whole body and just make me miserable. Hope you find a solution. Take care

Panic is the greatest trigger of IBS, try and learn how to calm down your body and mind like giving yourself the feeling like "Yes I'm okay "it works for me a lot.

As messed up as this sounds, I’m the opposite. When I get anxiety about my IBS when I am out it triggers something in me that makes me want to eat to cope with the stress, which makes my IBS worse.

Yes. Once I cried and cried and could not eat for seven days. My appetite slowly came back but the medics were no help at all. Of course you will panic and with good reason. I paid to see a psychotherapist and she helped a great deal. I still see her four times a year. Nothing much makes me panic now. The worst has happened too many times and I’ve survived.
