How many days/months does the medicine take to reduce Ibs flare up?

Depends about the individual, for some people it can last either hours, days, weeks or even months, others experience daily symptoms for years.

Also what medicine you mean? There's no specific medicine for IBS, they can prescribe antispasmodics like Mebeverine or Probiotics if you have diarrhea, or stool softeners if you have severe constipation, it's mostly your diet you have to change and be sure to drink enough and avoid high stress situations.

That's all that can be done, really, flare up times can change drastically from person to person, for me they last months but they are mild and always let me sleep at night. I don't take anything except Mebeverine and occasional Dysflatil for bloating, I don't have any change in bowel habits, my stool looks normal and I have 1 bowel movement daily, I'm mostly pain predominant due to air building up.
