Stool sample

Had a telephone consultation today with the gastric doctor he wants me to have a stool test and blood test, I can’t remember what the stool test is for. Had a FIT test in January which thank god was negative. Any idea what the stool test is for. Thanks

The stool test is normally for calprotectin which is an inflammation marker, although it could be for blood or parasites as well.

The fecal immunochemical test (FIT) is a screening test for colon cancer. It tests for hidden blood in the stool, which can be an early sign of cancer. FIT only detects human blood from the lower intestines.

Yes like you I had negative fit test 0.5 m I also had a stool test

It’s usually for inflammation positive , butthe gp said I should repeat it and it disappeared !

I should get a colonoscopy but in these days it’s hard to get ,
