Got confirmation I'm back to work in 3 weeks so going to give this one last attack haven't tried stool softener before but anything I've read it should be like toothpaste consistency whereas I'm dealing with like icebergs 🙈not painful but uncomfortable to pass so hopefully that will clear it up and allow hemorrhoids suppository to begin to heal anything that needs healed
Yesterday passed little blood today reasonable amount of blood after a big splash
Cannot wait to be free and healthy again
Any other tips?
Attended doc in Feb time who put my rectal bleeding down to fissure and keep stools soft... Thinking back my stools have been big and hard... Like pellet form icebergs
If you have been diagnosed with IBS-C (constipation dominant), you are the same as me. I have been prescribed Linaclotide for it and I am also taking Alflorex probiotic which has been scientifically studied for IBS and is available on a free 2 month trial on joining theibsnetwork.org. These in combination have reduced the pain I am in considerably and I have been able to tolerate more foods so that I am able to consume the extra fibre I need to have a BM without laxatives including 4 tablespoon oatbran, 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed, 8 prunes, 2 tablespoon chia seeds and 3 shredded wheat (or GF version: Nutribrex) for breakfast, plus quinoa, wholewheat bread and whole grain pastas at other meals. These fruits are particularly high fibre and can help with BMs: hard pears, dried apricots, raspberries, oranges (contain a natural laxative) & 2 kiwi. In some people the Linaclotide also helps a lot with BMs which is its primary purpose.
There is some good advice about constipation here:
Exercise can help with BMs. The government recommends 150 mins of moderate exercise (e.g. walking as if you are late for an appointment) or 75 of intense exercise (e.g. jogging) per week. I also have a bit of a walk around straight after breakfast to get things moving.
You need to ensure that you are drinking enough fluids (2 litres of fluid per day).
Thanks for the info! Haven't been diagnosed with anything just with rectal bleeding then bleeding with constaaation and then hard stools I'm in just in need of what I hope to be a big lifestyle change
But it makes since to follow the tips you have listed above 👍
Just a notebook with what you eat/drink & when you go to the bathroom is convenient but there are apps you can get too. Have you seen the Bristol Stool chart? You can see it on google and I record my stools as Type 1, Type 2 etc. & if there's any blood, how much pressure etc.
It's easy to get disheartened when there's lots of things to try and things start to get confusing so a tracker will help keep things in order for you. It can also be helpful to show to a doctor/dietician in the future if need be.
2 - I've been trying linseed for added fibre (wheat makes my symptoms worse). You start with a small amount then increase. Have a look in health food shops. It's a bit early to tell for me how it's going but it comes recommended.
have literally tried everything except surgery for Reoccurring fissure.. The pain has been unrelenting for almost 2 years. I wanted to pass this on as I know that any relief or ideas are appreciated!!!
As of a month ago I tried Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay
100% Natural Calcium Bentonite Clay that’s great for facials, body wraps, clay baths, foot soaks, hair masks, chilled clay knee packs, insect bites & more
Can buy it from Amazon. You can mix with apple cider vinegar and put directly on the area, soak in it or I even read make suppositories with it. This is the only thing that I can attribute to long stretches of relief and not retearing.
I know we're all different, but I had to share as this is such a painful and debilitating at times problem.
Views on Vaseline applied?
My items have been delayed and won't be here till the end of the week! Bleeding is now a lot less and now just a small smear I guess but definitely a small obvious discomfort when passing a stool at the left hand side nd looking at my anus it's red also there
