Is it possible to have a sudden onset of IBS after childbirth? I gave birth to my first child 4 months ago and since then have experienced what I believe to be many symptoms of IBS. Could the uterine atony massage I had during labour be a cause of IBS?

IBS AFTER CHILDBIRTH/UTERINE ATONY
Hi,
I don't know whether the massage caused it, but I know myself my IBS started after my first was born, looking back I did have a few symptoms before getting pregnant but nothing major. I think it's the baby kicking around inside and things get squashed, moved etc. After my second was born it's got a lot worse, it really effects how much I can work and frequency of the flare ups is a lot more. My doctor says it's common in women after pregnancy. Try the fodmap diet and try to avoid stress, (I know it's hard). I take immodium most days, 1 or 2 in a morning, ask the pharmacy if you are breastfeeding, I forgot whether it's ok to take then. Just look after yourself and don't put too much pressure on yourself to be "perfect". I don't know what your situation is but just do what is right for you and your family. Stress is really a major factor in IBS. Take care
