Has anyone tried CBD oil for the relief of Chronic abdominal pain, I have been suffering for several years now having test after test after test all coming back normal, more recently GP has tried me on Amytryptylene one 5ml tablet at night, still the same I have read CBD oil can relieve non functional Chronic pain, has anyone tried it. Would like opinions before I commit to buying some, I really am at my wits end now and willing to try almost anything to ease the pain as it's now affecting my every day life.

I use oil for arthritis and my ibs has been very stable... I have just had a flare up today a severe one but it was because I had run out.... So to me that says it all... A few of my friends use it who have crohns and it's in remission... Make sure you are honest with your consultants though 😊

And don't buy the rubbish from Holland and Barratt it's weak and does nothing

How long have you been on the Amytryptyline for? It can take up to 6 weeks to give pain relief. Also you are on half the normal dose for pain (the starting point is normally 10mg). They may be trying you on 5mg to see if you have a reaction to it. It's probably worth going back to the doctor. I couldn't tolerate Amytryptyline and am now on Linaclotide for IBS-C and intestinal nerve pain. It is helping with the pain, but it depends on what type of IBS you have.

Thanks for the reply, been on the tablet for about three months now, due to see GP on Thursday this week for a review will bring it up with her, after various tests over the past few years Gastroenterologist tells me it’s a gut/brain nerve problem, I do get the occasional severe cramping that leaves me doubled up with pain, thankfully not that often, it’s the daily chronic abdominal pain that is really getting me down, had a bad day today wondered if CBD oil would help. Had to take strong pain killers this afternoon which in turn makes me constipated due to the codine.

I'm surprised they left you on 5mg for 3 months without it helping. Glad that you have an appointment with your GP - they should be considering increasing the dose. Sorry to hear you've been suffering so badly. If you have IBS-C Linaclotide is worth a try, but not if you have IBS-D. Good luck.
