I have realised IBS in my case is caused by the following factors, diet, stress, depression and sadness. I realise as I am seeking employment to take each day at a time and do what I can.
I have recently been on a trip to Lourdes which has helped me to understand to focus on what we have instead of what we do not have.
I have noticed heavy carbohydrates and rich and spicy foods are a trigger,
Being sad and demoralised as I approached my fiftieth birthday lead to a IBS flare up.
Accepting of where we are in life, choosing the path of least resistance and trying to rebuild my life in small steps every day enables me to overcome the stress and sadness which created the IBS Trigger flare ups.
It is such a painful disease and inhibits sleep.
Taking probiotic tablets and peppermint capsules also helped reduce the pain.
I was on so many panadols and meberverine I thought the IBS would never go away. Bit it does if you are able to watch the diet, and reduce levels of stress and in my case not to give in to sadness and depression

Whatever you find helps, is really good to do, if you can. In my case, as I have gone from IBDd to IBDc, I find I have to force myself to drink at least an extra 1.5 litres of water every day, otherwise the pains and the constipation, completely, wipe me out. I even find that I am still wiped out when I do drink the extra water.
I think you are right. All of what you say rings true with me. We have had an awful year. I am a very sensitive person who takes everything to heart and I believe that doesn’t help my situation.
I encourage you to get a handle on your depression and sadness. I am 75 and see you at your age with lots of potential and living to do. Embrace that fact and don’t compare yourself to anyone or thing. You have your own journey and story and are unique in your talents. Feeling trapped is one reason people feel depressed, and women especially find themselves cornered in life circumstances. I hope you can deal with your depression and then can focus on the IBS.
Thanks for such an encouraging reply. I am fifty years old and I am seeking to become Probate Lawyer. But as you rightly say, we should learn to accept our path in life and our unique journey and to be appreciative of what we have and learn to build on what we have.
I went to visit Lourdes in France and it was there I felt a lot of peace and tranquillity. I also learn to appreciate the value of what we may have, also career aspiration is one goal but important is our health, and our spiritual life. I am learning these facts at the age of fifty. I will learn not to compare myself to others as this lead to sadness. I try every day little by little to work on my eating, diet , exercise, studies and job search.
Lourdes is a place which is built in inspiring others to have self belief and to keep on persevering in life. Thanks for your since and kind message.
I think most everyone in this day & time are too stressed & hurried. For some reason it is seen as admirable to be an over achiever and to be stressed to the max 7 days a week. I think it's taking a toll on people's health both physically and mentally. Hence, all the anger, violence and health disorders. Like you, I think we all need to slow down, smell the roses and spend quality down time with our friends and family.
I also don't do well with rich, high fat foods or high carb foods.
