mebeverine supply

Is anyone else having problems getting hold of mebeverine? The last few prescriptions I’ve had huge problems getting filled - I’ve had to call quite a few chemists (last time 6), to get hold of any. The pharmacies say they can only get hold of the branded, much more expensive Colofac tablets, which they can only prescribe if my GP reissues the prescription. The GP practice is currently refusing to reissue a prescription for Colofac. Thanks

If you're in the UK I use pharmacy2u. The mebeverine need to be on your repeat obviously and then they'll check with your doctor that you're still on it and they'll send it to you by post. The process takes about a week so order in advance but they do send reminders when you're due to re-order. The last time I placed my order mebeverine were out of stock and they were delayed by about a week but I split my order so the rest of my tablets still came on time. I've re-ordered this months supply and they haven't said anything about not having them as of yet. I use this service when I'm at university and when I'm at home so it is available in different areas but I don't know if you can get it anywhere in the country. The service is really helpful because I know I'm getting my stuff on a set day and they'll let me know if they don't have something (which has only been once) and then you only need to get a limited supply to last you until they arrive. But I've been using them for over and year and I've only ever had my order delayed the one time x

And I don't have to mess about getting copies of my repeat prescription because pharmacy2 gets the information directly from my doctors surgery x

Yes, this happened to me on my last repeat prescription in June 2018-I have Mebeverine time released capsules. My chemist said she could make the prescription complete with Aurobeverine. Then when I put my repeat prescription in June 2019 I was informed I could not get another prescription until Aug 2019.

Hello Suze109! I live in Belgium and I've had the same issue. I've been told by the chemist that there's been a problem with the manufacturer. I had to switch to another brand too (Duspatalin). I hope your GP will be more understanding in the future. Good luck !

Hi, my doctor won't prescribe colofac anymore as they said it's an over the counter drug. I buy mine ok so far at the chemist.

Thanks everyone! I might give the online option a try - it is getting a bit stressful and time consuming hunting them down.

I have a prescription prepay certificate, so I’d rather not buy the Colofac at the chemist - it’s a lot more expensive and they only come in little packets.
