I had my doctor prescribe Colestipol for me...totally got rid of my chronic diarrhea that I had for years. Others that work: Welchol and Questran. Miracle drugs in my humble opinion. I take 6 tablets a day (3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon).
I'm almost 55 and I've had problems with constipation since I was 18.The Doctor & consultant I saw then mentioned trapped wind and lazy bowels but I can't remember if they mentioned IBS as it was that long ago and I never suffered from diarrhea.I always assumed it was IBS-C.It has been an ongoing situation where I've just had to be careful what I eat and when.I've always been anxious about BM.
Since the end of May this year, I've had a lot of trapped wind pain, gurgling stomach, bloating, stomach cramps & backache that has lasted all day and night.I started taking Senocalm on July 8th, three per day, and it worked wonders with the bloating and trapped wind.I cut out Coke Zero and just drank water instead. I feel much, much better than I did last month though I had very hard stools and mucus yesterday.I haven't lost my appetite so I wonder if stress brought on the IBS? I've had a very, very traumatic period since Dec.22nd and I think I went through a slight depression because of it.I'm also going through the change so that might have been a factor, too.I'm going to the Doctor on Tuesday to have a discussion as to whether I have IBS or not.The brain and gut are linked so I'm hoping the anxiety was the cause of my stomach problems.
