Good evening and hope things have settled for you . I have a long long history of IBS ( D) which controls almost every wakening minute of my life, so can totally empathise with you . I have developed strategies for everyday life ie I know where every toilet is situated but travelling and going somewhere new presents immense psychological and physical problems. I too was worried about cancer, given my family history , but had a colonoscopy last month and was told apart from slight colitis ( he uses another name but can't remember it ) and diverticulitis everything else was fine !!!! Have you been checked out by a colorectal surgeon ??? I feel much more reassured now , however, I was told I just had to " get on with it" as regards the diarrhoea and incontinece . On a bad morning I could go to the toilet 6 or 7 times. Leaves me anxious , depressed and isolated ! On a good day I think it's not going to beat me , and try and get on with things but it's hard when you are anxious and worried . Hope things improve for you .

I have had stool tests and everything but nothing from it doesn't help when you hear the C word quite often now when you hardly hear it years ago just bought some colpermine tablets see if they calm my stomach not been toilet since so hope it subsided just scared to eat something now incase in flares again

I take the point of view from fodmapsfriendly.com/what-are-fodmaps that not all the foods recommended by fodmaps will stop symptoms of IBS. Many people have triggers they are not aware of, such as multi grain, egg, dairy. Some people have symptoms from eating too much red meat. I am one of them - had a bad day yesterday after weeks of no problems. What I had done was to eat bacon, ham, mince, beef, lamb, every day for several days. I am now back on vegetable soup, melon, fish and vegetables, and taking fibre gel which helps me. Hope you feel better and find some energy as it knocks you sideways when you get these bouts. Do you react to stress as well?
