I have realised that my husband`s health insurance will pay for me to have some acupuncture so I`m wondering if that is worth trying

I tried it, it didn’t work for me but as it’s very relaxing it might be worth a go. Can’t do you any harm. Good luck.
Never had it for IBS. But I found it pleasant for shoulder issues. My practitioner hooked the needles up to a small electrical charge. Was very relaxing. Just be sure to get a properly qualified practitioner. There are heaps of dodgy types out there saying they are acupuncturists. It can be dangerous with those types. Infections and accidentally punctured lungs are real risks in the hands of the improperly trained.
I had it on the NHS a few years ago, not for IBS but for arthritic knees. It worked really well and left me pain free for about 7 years. Unfortunately, I think the NHS have cut the service now or I would be back for more.
Go for it.
