Both D&C

I'm not sure where to begin. If I don't take a laxative I don't go. I'm taking senakot max at the moment but it doesn't always work in the morning like it should it can be after lunch. That means I have to hang around after lunch and it puts me off eating out. I need to know there are going to be toilets handy Then when I finally go its like an explosion so embarrassing I wouldn't want to be anywhere but home. I also have instances where I can't get through a meal before I have to dash. I have never managed to identify certain foods as what is OK one day might not be another. I do know going too long without food triggers it. The strange things is I went to Greece twice last summer and never had any problem with either C or D. I'm sure worrying about the diahhoreah mor likely to happen. I have mebeverain but can't somehow get the dose right I'm convinced it makes me constipated. Sorry to go on but maybe this will help me explain to the consultant when I go back. Thanks for listening

Well whatever time you take it now try taking it maybe after dinner at night and may work straight after you eat breakfast. I take mine about 8.00 pm and always go after breakfast

You are not alone Kathrynf and I am sure fellow sufferers on this site can identify with your dilemma. I am with you on eating regularly -if I go too long without eating I get wind pains which usually result in diarrhoea. No wonder we have constipation for a coupe of days (or is it longer in your case?) after an attack like that!! I take mebeverine time release capsules before eating once or twice a day if needed and it does help with the spasms and wind. Think janetmtt is probably right you have juggle with dosage/timings until its right for you. Are you going to the consultant to get elimination tests to confirm it is IBS?

in reply toLinley

Yes it's been confirmed. This is a follow up. I've learnt a lot since being on here and have plenty of questions this time. It's a different consultant and I'm pleased about that as I didn't gel with the other one

Forgot to say I never leave the constipation more than a day. It's too painful xx

I stopped the lax as they just upset my stomach like u i would go from not being able to go EVER to explosions.

So i now take rhubard complex or magnesium tablets and they just let it work naturally. I go every morning now and thats it no bellyache no explosions.

Also drink alot of water

Work out the time you take it now and when it starts to work then work backwards to get to a time of 7 or 8 in the morning

in reply tojanetmtt

Thanks. There doesn't seem to be a set time for it to work someday it's about 10 hours others it can be 16. Then I'm not sure if what I've eaten has upset me. It just helps to put it on here
