I live on Isle of Wight and wondered if there's anyone else on the island who suffers from IBS and diverticulitis who can perhaps help share some ideas as to how to cope when things get bad

Absolutely not helpful to you I know, but my family has a big connection with IOW. My Great Grandparents once owned the St Lawrence Inn in Ventnor.

I hear being completely blotto on alcohol could be a distraction from your symptoms, but I wouldn't know. Despite my family history I am a tee-totaller.

Hopefully you will get a way more helpful response than mine before long.
