Hi Whit 75...I have IBS C and a haitus hernia....been suffering for over a decade with acid reflux..sore throat, hoarseness, fatigue, pain in chest, persistent cough, sinus pain, effects eyes too...I suspect that the severe constipation sets off the acid reflux (TMI?) I take omerprazolue and rantadine but they have awful side effects so only take them when the pain stops me thinking straight. Trying to manage symptoms by the acid reflux diet and Keto diet. Has been helping. Also throat really sensitive after chemo so can't tolerate anything warm...starts bleeding and am immense pain....so cold food and drinks. Got an appointment with ENT so hopefully they can help with this. What are your symptoms? Does anything help?

Hi nomoreibsc thank you for your reply, I’ve only felt like this for just over a month but had constant indigestion a couple of years ago & was on omeprazole but came off it & felt better!! This time round I’ve had chest pain which for me coz I get quite anxious I automatically thought it’s my heart 🙄 but I feel like wind is gurgling sometimes around my chest! I get burning in my throat & top of my tummy! I’ve taken renitadine but on the pack it says no more then 2 in 24 hours so was confused if I could take them every 12 hours? So haven’t been takeing them regularly!! Gavisgon helps the burning a bit! I also don’t burp so I wonder if that’s why it’s gurgling around my chest.

So sorry that you are suffering. Acid reflux is so painful and makes you feel really awful. Can mimic the pain of a heart attack. I remember getting rushed to hospital one time even though I kept saying to the doctor it's reflux. Can be quite scary. I don't think the prescribed meds really work long term in my experience and feel it worsens the problem. I trying to sort out the constipation as I always feel better when my bowel is free. Been referred to the Colorectal clinic. Do you mind me asking if you have IBS C or D? Would you consider getting a referral to the Colorectal clinic? Less meds more excercises to improve gut mobility and someone who listens and tries to help.

Hi Whit75,

Have you tried Silicol Gel made by Saguna ?

Tesco, Boots and Amazon UK sell it. Check out Mysupermarket.

( check out Amazon UK reviews ).

Amazon sell it in satchet form as well, though, I’ve only taken it in liquid form to date. I totally can vouch for it’s rapid, soothing effectiveness.

Hope this helps.
