Yes, I have taken loperamide for years, every day. Sometimes only 2 per day, or if I have a bad day, I have taken 6 or 8, taking 2 with each dose. I have only had constipation problems a couple of times when I have taken a high dose 'just in case' when I have visited friends and overdone it. That isn't much fun, but all things equal I could not have had any kind of normal life without it. I cannot live without it, and the thought of going back to the time when I couldn't leave the house doesn't bear thinking about. I have had it on prescription for years, so you should be able to have it too. Before I realised that, it cost me a fortune buying it myself, even buying Boots own make which is much cheaper. Good luck, you will soon get to know how much will help you. I always take a dose before breakfast, so it gets into my system early in the day, and usually go out in the afternoon when I know I will be OK.

I have also been taking Imodium daily (between 2-6) to be able to function - I can still have 3/4 big and quite solid bms with this dose and has done last week but oh my god the pain! I ended up in A&E because I couldn't take the pain any more in stomach/ groin/ hip and was xrayed which showed huge amount of poo stuck! Now having to take softener to relieve the pain- ever feel like saying 'I'm just full of s@*t'!
