Hi I’ve been on a strict FODMAP diet for a year and it has helped, but not totally eradicated, my symptoms. I don’t suffer from volcanic explosions in my gut any more. It’s definitely worth doing though as you’ll have a better quality of life.
My tip is to read labels especially on condiments and soft drinks which usually contain all sorts of nasties. Good luck.
I have also been on th FODMAP diet for about a year. It has resulted in about 60% improvement. My advice is to be very strict with it, and I agree with the comment by Autumndweller.
Hello. I tried the fodmap diet for a couple weeks. It did not help me and it was expensive. A BASKET of food cost me $90. I did find a few foods that I like and have made them staples however, just because they actually taste really good. Foods for me are just so hit and miss. Take onions for example. I know that I can eat a little at one meal, but if I were to toss onion on food for 2 or 3 days in a row, it backfires. Or, ground beef. I know I can eat a little (like one burger), but if I overdo that and eat a few in one week, it backfires. Then sometimes, just the one serving of onions or beef send me running to the bathroom. It's like this with pizza, red peppers, eggs, and the list goes on. I honestly can't name many more because I still don't know completely. I have had this garbage for 5+ years. Give it a good shot anyway, each person is different with this "syndrome". Good luck!!
On another note, I understand that onions and certain veggies that may end up on my pizza are a big no no for FODMAP. But again, IBS is particular to each person. I'm sorry, but I'm not gonna say no to half of the food out there unless it's gonna actually kill me. Again, good luck!
