Ok, in my efforts to understand this IBS diagnosis, the first question is how did I get this? I never had any of the out- of- ordinary digestive issues my entire life. At 50 yrs old my doctor said I should have a preventative Colonoscopy. I agreed and was told things looked good and have another in 10 years. I have been suffering ever since. Finally at 54 yrs, I am given a diagnosis of IBS. Anybody think there is a connection withIBS and colonoscopy?

Any connection between IBS and Colonoscopy?
I have never heard of its being caused by a colonoscopy, however, I suppose there is always a first. Did you have a stomach virus about the same time? My IBS d is considered Post infectious IBS as it began after a severe stomach virus, which may have been food poisoning.
Hi, welcome to the group. It does seem a bit suspicious that you didn't have any problems before, have you discussed it with your doctor? Maureen.
No I haven’t, actually my husband is 5he one who thought maybe a link. Doctors don’t like it very much when you ask that kinda question LOL. Thought if anyone else could connect the same experience.
I had IBS D very severe and 3 weeks ago I had a colonoscopy and now I have IBS C . From one extreme to the next this only after the colonoscopy
