tackling relationships if you have IBS

Dear All,

Following on from the helpful comments in response to my last post, I wanted to ask about managing relationships with IBS?

How to you talk with the other person, about IBS?

and how did it go? how did they respond?

I have been putting off having a relationship, because I feel nervous about talking about it

I've already started to think that maybe I don't need to worry so much????

Get your doctor to prescribe Welchol. It will stop your IBS in it's tracks! There's also another drug called "Colestipol," it's cheaper and works as well! That way, you won't have to worry about talking to anybody about your IBS. I suffered for years with chronic diarrhea..finally after much research, I asked my doctor to prescribe the Welchol for me. It's too expensive now, so he's switched me to the Colestipol. miracle drugs...

I wouldn’t worry about relationships and ibs-my partner is very sweet and completely understanding, he’s very sympathetic. Definitely good to talk about it as it’s a big part of your life that really gets in the way, but only if it’s with someone who you feel completely comfortable with. Just gotta find the right person! Hope this helps, don’t stress too much it’s nothing to be afraid to talk about xx

Hi, I am sure when you find someone you are close enough to it will happen naturally. Just like all the other conversations you will have. As Sophie says you have just got to find the right person. I have been with my husband for over 30 years now and he is the only person I can really discuss my IBS with (apart from my son who grew-up watching me try to cope with it). I am sure you will meet the right person one day and it will be the most natural thing in the world. Maureen.
