I think most of us with IBS are on some sort of restricted diet, and I do know that some foods (especially some fruits) give me diarrhoea. But, most of the time I eat pretty much the same thing every day, and one day I will be constipated and the next I will be rushing to the loo. Sometimes I can put this down to being stressed - but not always.
There must be something else going on that is making the bowels function in such an erratic and random way
Hi Janke, I wish I had a pound for the number of times I have said something similar to your last paragraph. I have had it for over 30 years and none of it makes any sense. I thought when my son left home 7 years ago that I would only have me to think about and I would work out the answer but 7 years later I am still no nearer to an answer and guess I never will find an answer now. The one thing that really worries me is getting old with it. I have just turned 60 and not looking forward to coping with it in my old age. Maureen.
Hi - I know exactly how you feel! I`m just 61 and spend a lot of time at my Dad`s care home. I have often wondered how the heck I will manage as I get less mobile and less able to get to the loo unaided!
Somehow we have got to try to stay positive and hope that some answers will be found in the meantime. I think when you reach 60 it really hits you that time is starting to run out and nobody wants to waste any of it coping with this blooming condition!
Hi again, sorry for delay. I agree entirely, hitting 60 does seem to have some effect on you (my husband is only 57 so I will be interested to see how he deals with it when he hits 60). I am also glad to know I am not the only one who thinks about coping in the future. I thought perhaps it was just me.
