Hi,

I had a colonoscopy yesterday afternoon. Managed without sedation or pain relief and felt so relieved it was over I was on cloud nine. Feel exhausted today tho, so run down and feel dreadful. Worried about what I should be eating and so lethargic. Went a bit light headed this afternoon. Is this normal? How did everyone else feel if you’ve had one??

l'm like you, relieved. The worst part to me is drinking the prep! The test was not as bad as l had thought. They did put me to sleep for this, but l did not stay asleep long. My friend who took me said the doctor came out to let her know about me. Took about 45 minutes after l went in. I am glad they found nothing but a longer colon than most and my intestines were in a mess. He told me...l hope it was worth it because your intestines are in a mess! He said this is due to worrying to much and he had seen a lot of people like me. Worry toooo much! I am glad that it is over too!!

So glad it's over! Afterwards I think you can go back to your normal diet. You probably feel crummy from stress, tiredness and not eating well. For anxious types (like me) it is a very stressful event. I have a friend who has polyps and has a colonoscopy once a year. She is lucky - she just breezes through it without a second thought. Hope you can get back to enjoying that it's over and you did it. xx

Hi Winnie, happy your procedure went well. I like yourself felt good after getting it done but next few days after it is was unwell.

Hi Winnie. Yes, I felt poorly for a couple of days after. Think it's got a lot to do with worry about the procedure. Just take it easy and slowly re-introduce your normal diet.

Hi Winnie,

I had a similar experience. It is normal, and it will pass. You were no doubt very stressed yesterday, so your body did react. You are experiencing the knock-on effect today. Take it easy today. Eat something light that you know you digest OK today and for the next couple of days. If you don't meditate, you may find this helps ground you.

Similar thing happened to me too, I agree, think it's the stress leading up to the procedure that causes it. I had moviprep to take the day before and it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I had thought. Mixed orange juice into it and it was fine. I had light sedation, but was sitting up in bed eating tea and toast within about 45 minutes, and home an hour later. Following day I was bit weak and tired but otherwise fine .
