I had a hysterectomy for uterine prolapse and rectocele repair 6 years ago. It terrified me, but I couldn't have managed without the surgery. The symptoms were debilitating and until you suffer, you have no real idea how much gynae issues impact on the bowel and bladder.

I think surgery is the only way to go. There is life afterwards though!!

Thank you, it's really good to know surgery can have a positive impact, am worried it will bring its own problems.

Got my first test today, I have quickly learned that pride didn't help haha.

Hi, i had a double prolapse repair and hyster a couple of years ago and things got so much better for me too.

There are a couple of other forums which might be able to give some perspective.

Pelvic pain deals with prolapse issues and hysterectomy- well speaks for itself.

Thanks that's good to know, simply wasn't prepared for the impact. Also the rectocele is being dealt with by a colorectal consultant and the bladder and uterus by gyn consultant. I seem to have a foot in two camps and they don't talk to each other! Am learning quickly 😊

My rectocele and hysterectomy were done at the same time, by a gynae doctor. Are you in the UK?

Yes I am in the UK, seen seen gynae consultant again last week. They are now sharing the results of tests which is positive. waiting to see colorectal consultant to see what he suggests. A rectal ulcer was found from the flexi camera test. Am hoping to go back into work from next week, on gradual return. I still have little control over bowel !!!!

Hope your op was a success , what was your recovery like ?
