I was under the impression that green beans are ok and cabbage is not - but I`ve just got a new cook book "The Fodmap Friendly Kitchen" which says cabbage is ok and green beans should be limited. I don`t have access to the fodmaps app so I`m hoping someone can give me up to date information.

Cabbage is usually a no-no for IBS sufferers. Green beans can irritate if they are fresh, because of the fibre. But you may be fine with French green beans in tins.
A good source of up-to-date information is the Monash University app. they do constant research into Fodmaps.
Having said that you may find things on the lists that you still react to. Serving sizes are important too. You may manage a small serving, but not twice in a day, for example.
Hope this helps,
Alison
I have green beans and don't have a reaction, the Monash app states a serving of 12 beans is safe but everyone is different. Common and Red cabbage is also fine. You may find that some vegetables show as red on this but can be eaten in a smaller portions. I tend to stick to carrots, parsnips, green beans, courgettes, peppers, spinach and a new one I've tried recently Kale, which is very similar to cabbage. If you need to know anything on the app I don't mind if you pm me.
Thanks Emylou. I eat quite a lot of green beans (I grow my own) and hadn`t been aware of them causing problems. Cabbage has always been a bit dodgy for me. I think I need more green veg to help combat constipation - I will give Kale another go - so far, I can`t say I`ve been impressed! I wish I could eat peppers but they have always given me indigestion
