I think its another name for Immodium??, I looked at 4or5 different names on packets and they all contained same thing,, (will check later) and varying prices from £1 to £10 :(

Yes it is the same as immodium. It is what you would get from the dr. I got prescribed some, you get so many more in a pack so it is much cheaper than buying immodium. It works exactly the same so you take it when you need it

Yes you can take loperamide (Imodium) any time but I find most effective after a bowel movement and before eating

Hi I'm really new to this forum, but I too have been given Lopermide.

I was finally diagnosed with IBS about eight years ago and it was getting progressively worse. I was having a soft bowel movement numerous times a day and constant wind. I hated being out because I struggled to get to the toilet in time, especially within an hour of lunch. After after having an extremely embarrassing and upsetting bowel accident when with my teenage sons in a park a few weeks ago I went to my doctor who gave me Lopermide. I was told to take 1 or 2 up 3 times a day, but it was trial and error. I have now found that just taking 2 first thing every morning has changed things completely, I hope it continues because I feel so much better. I hardly have any wind and most days only have a bowel movement once a day, I feel like a new person, my confidence is coming back slowly because I still can't quite believe it. My doctor has also referred me to check for other causes, but I'm really hoping that there isn't anything else because this seems to be working.

I'm 53 and sometimes IBS along with the menopause is too much!

This is a great place, it really helps reading all your posts, thanks.
