Has anyone else tried the fast tract diet? I actually think I am having success with it (scared to write this...). I have the app on my phone and so far so good. Wondered if anyone else has any experience with it?

What is it?

Basically it is trying to overcome IBS by stopping feeding the bacteria that have likely overgrown in your small intestine and possibly stomach in my case. Mostly cutting out carbs but the guy who researched it has given lots of food an 'FP' score which stands for fermentative potential. The app is really helpful.

thank you. Look at the book on amazon - I bought the kindle cloud version so it is easily searched. It is American but can be easily modified for the UK.

What does this involve? Is to help with C or D?

See other reply. I think it is for both, but it is mainly helping me with my problem of painful indigestion and constant 'burping'. Sorry if tmi.

l would be intrested in this as the food l eat can get stuck at the top of my stomach so l have to be very careful what l eat the wind builds up and thee only way to release is to massage the stomach area .

I would try it if I were you. Basically you cut out loads of carbs and limit yourself to 25 'FP' points a day but e.g. egg and cheese and meat are 0 FP. Raw kale is low FP.

Hi, since the original post I also bought the book and am finding it very interesting. What he says about the overgrowth of bacteria in the intestine seems to make a lot of sense... I haven't reached the point of the diet yet but am liking the way the author explains all the issues in the intestine in a scientific yet easy to read way. So far, I recommend the book.

Hey I was wondering if this worked for any of you seeing as it's been a few months down the line since posting about it?? I'm really curious to know the outcome really need to come up with a diet plan myself I suffer with both C and D so I desperately need to figure out a good balance

It is still working for me. At times I have little flare ups but usually they are easily quelled by going back to lower points for a few days. It's much better in my opinion than the low FODMAP diet as I can eat things which are "banned" on it as long as the total points for the day remain around 20 to 25. And if you request to join the Facebook group you get loads of tips and recipes. I love it and although I am by no means cured it is so much better. I have been able to stop taking omeprazole almost straight away after a few days on the diet. Good luck if you start it.
