Good news... finally...

I FINALLY, after 2 weeks--which is when I had the CT scan-- got the phone consult with my dr who said "The scan looks fine"... Yes, those were good words to hear...and oh dear god, yes, I AM grateful.

Then he adds... it seems like all of your symptoms are coming from your ibs and anxiety...

Hmmmmm..... well, ok. He said HE is learning more about ibs... and I'm thinking: 'good for you, doc' .... (Really he is a great dr and always takes time...never EVER rushes me out of his office...he LISTENS.)

Now he seems to officially have joined the throngs of doctors who really know NOTHING about ibs except that each case seems to be tailor made to the individual (as someone on this site said)...

I am already seeing positive results (as I told him) from going on a STRICT grain free diet... and that means strictly meat, fruit, and vegetables...and even some of THOSE you have to be careful with (I know, I'm preaching to the choir here :) ) .

Even though I didn't get that big overwhelming sense of relief from the Dr's report that I thought I would experience... I slept like a log, waking up only once. Of course, I took my usual 6 mg melatonin, little better than half a Unisom, and at 4:30 a .5 Ativan....sometimes THAT doesn't even do the trick, but boy, it did last night! SO, I am attributing it to the unexpressed RELIEF... THANK YOU all of you, for all your encouragement and well wishes. I think this IBS and Anxiety communities are the BEST...with the kindest people. Bless you all.

Hi BettyA

I so glad to hear that your scan results were good. I know IBS and anxiety go hand in hand for me and probably most sufferers. I do what I can to ease my anxiety and promote better health for myself. I meditate, exercise, talk with friends & family and get joy from hiking with my dogs but I'm not immune to bouts of anxiety. Hey ho !! It's the way I am. I'm off on holiday to Greece tomorrow for a break with my wonderful husband. I will miss my teenage kids but we need some time together after what has been a pretty stressful last 18 months.

I wish you the best and thank you for sharing the good news.

AGood.
