yes.struggle to work today. taking mevbeverine ,paractlm and zydol .mostly spasm not toilet issues. need rest and heat really. ibs makes you depressed but that lifts when feel better. have you tried fodmap diet?

Hi sandybeach, I have the same problem having had lots of time off with my ibs and related depression/anxiety.

Employers definitely don't understand how painful and upsetting the condition is.

I have now been given a final warning and am in danger of losing my job.

I want to work but with this condition it is practically impossible to not take time off sick.

I don't know what the answer is I have tried different anti spasmodics, peppermint oil to no avail. Amitryptiline helped but left me feeling so bad the next day I found it hard to function so had to stop taking it.

I have yet another appointment with a Gastro consultant next week and am praying they will come up with a solution.
