Have just bought Charcoal Tablets and they seem to be doing the trick. Got them in Boots. Don't be put of by the colour. - they are black- but they seemed to be working. Well worth trying as they are only about £3.

How many do you take - and how often. When I bought some at Tesco (behind the counter) I was told that they could interfere with other medication so I should take them a few hours after medication.

I've looked it up and found some guidance that says that charcoal hsould be taken either 2 hours before of 1 hour after taking other medicine. There are warning too, I suggest you look these up. Do you just keep taking them every day?

Charcoal is a good idea - however, do you eat cabbage and related veg - I avoid these (much as I love cabbage) as they are known to cause wind

I tried one piece of broccoli, after not having it for months, to see how my tum reacted. My sleep was punctuated by wind build up , occurring every hour or so. Was alright in the morning but tired in the afternoon. Less wind the next night but still windy. Was totally shattered the second day. It is so frustrating, loosing days but am excluding the broccoli for good now.

Have avoided all the windy veg for a long time, i.e. broccolli, cauliflower, cabbage, sprouts, leeks also onions including spring, baked beans and now have included peas and mushrooms, tend to stick to carrots and fine/runner beans, rather limiting but rather that than embarrassing wind!!!!

Sounds like you need a low FODMAPS diet. It's working for me. Helps to have a whole foods approach and read labels otherwise.

The dose is 2-4 tablets three times a day. I would check with the pharmacist if they would react to any medication you are taking. Like others I now stear clear of cabbage, cauliflour and broccoli. Hope this helps.

Try missing the following foods and additives out of your diet and see if that helps. They belong to the polyols group (the 'P' in FODMAPS) and are a very windy collection:

Apples, apricots, avocado, blackberries, butternut squash, cauliflower, celery, cherries, chutney, dates, fennel leaves, figs, lychees, mushrooms, nectarines, peaches, pears, peas, plums, prunes, pumpkin, sweet corn, sweet potato, watermelon, xylitol, sorbitol, mannitol, malitol, erythritol, isomalt, lacitol, hydrogenated starch hydrolysates, polydextrose.

I'd also eliminate all beans and pulses.

Again I would ask the doctor or the chemist. Shouldn't think they would cause a problem but better to check.
