I have been told to continue with irrigation and the Linoclotine when my body will stand it and referred to Professor Whorwell

Has anyone else seen him? How long is the wait for an appointment?

This is my final chance for a solution before my bowel is removed.

I have met him before and he is the top Dr on IBS. I wished I lived nearer to have been referred to him. You will be in good hands I believe. Hope the wait time is speeded up for you as it sounds quite serious.best of luck.

Hiya. Yeah I have seen him, be prepared to wait on the day as he spends so long with each patient. He's very thourough though which is great. He gave me a lot of good advice. Just be aware you can have a several hour wait . Hope all goes well.

Thank you :)

can I ask in my ignorance, whether you have had a really good allergy test? my son was tested and it came back that he is allergic to pork and it really seems to be true. every time he eats something with pork in it, he gets a flare up. I realise that IBS is a recognised problem and is different for every patient, but then so are allergies. surely if you eat something with an ingredient in it, that your body is trying to reject then you will suffer. Just a thought.

I haven't had specific allergy tests but over the years have found foods that I can't tolerate. I suffer with Diverticulitus and IBD which create classic IBS symptoms. I have a list as long as my arm of things I can't tolerate and should avoid. Was the test done through the doctor or York?

Hiya. No i didn't have the test done through the doctors. My doctor is useless and just shoved the label of IBS on it, and left us to it. I had test done privately. I just feel if this is what is causing his problems (and i admit it is early days) then itshould be something that everyone should investigate before going to the drastic steps you seem to be experiencing. I really feel for you as i can see with my son that it affects your whole life. Hope you don't think i feel i know better than doctors, as i would never want to give that impression. I probably don't know what i am talking about but it just seems an extreme step for you to take. Hope all goes well.

I agree and am grateful for any help!

I do find that during a flare fibre does more harm than good but everyone is different. I also have a list as long as my arm of foods that I can't tolerate but they are through trial and error unfortunately.

Love to you and your Son and I hope the situation improves and settles :)
