Hi

Back in august 2020 i attended the doctors after been 7 days late with my period (usually like clockwork) bloating and constipation. After having blood test foundy ca125 levels were slightly raised at 45. So had another one which came back at 64, so ended up with tranavanginal scan ultrasound and then a ct scan all have been clear.

So then my bloods were repeated andnit had gone to 40 so she decided ti review in 6 months which was april they came back at 40 again. So she said have another one in 6 months if levels remain same im happy that this is normal for you anyway they came back last week at 72. So now been referred to gynaecology as an urgent appointment.

I am so worried i am 37 have alwaya had heavy periods suffered with back ache and stomach pains when due on.

Also my vit D levels are slightly low

Just want abit of advice

Thanks

Hope you are ok.

I have a similar-ish scenario. I have had a mildly raised CA125 at 40 in Dec 2021 so had a transabdominal ultrasound. Confirmed there was a simple cyst c.4cm. Suggested ‘watchful waiting’ and was asked to return for a follow up ultrasound to see if it had resolved. Had follow up CA125 which still showed 40 in Jan 2022. Follow up ultrasound showed cyst had fully resolved. Had a further CA125 in Feb 2022 with exactly same level at 40. GP referred me to gynaecologist due to the ongoing (albeit stable) slightly raised CA125. Gynaecologist then suggested a transvaginal ultrasound and a tiny 2mm fibroid was found, endometrium was pretty normal 7mm and no other issues. However CA125 came back in Apr 2022 now at 56. Gynaecologist has therefore recommended I have laparoscopy to ascertain what might be going on as he suspects endometriosis (I don’t have any classic endo symptoms however, but appreciate there could be silent endo). My anxiety at the moment is with having to have a laparoscopy when I have no symptoms really at all. I know there are risks, but I’ve asked the question on another group as I am wondering if I should instead ask for the non invasive MRI first (as I’ve read MRI can identify a little bit deeper endo than transvaginal ultrasound). I’m just concerned that I’m maybe being suggested to go into invasive surgery before all other avenues have been explored in full, or if MRI is pointless.

I hope you are better soon too but my gynaecologist did say he wasn’t too concerned with CA and ok ultrasounds as could be endo as endo can cause elevated or rising CA levels. Apparently endo can actually be caused by low vitamin D so with your appointment with gynaecologist you’ll hopefully get some answers.

Ps. I’m 42 in U.K. too

Take care big hugs 🤗 x

Hi,

Did you ever manage to get a diagnosis or reason for your fluctuating ca125?
