Hello, my partner underwent a temporal lobe resection 5 days ago to remove a 3cm tumour from her brain. The surgery itself was a success and they believe they removed all the tumour and surrounding tissue. However we haven’t been that informed on what to expect when returning home. Only that “ you will have a bit of a headache and some swelling “ We have been home for a day and She has a terrible headache and the swelling is significant which I expected but she didn’t . Unfortunately Katie suffers from health anxiety and has done for many years so she is convinced every headache is a brain bleed or an infection or that something had gone wrongI have tried to reassure her that it’s completely normal given surgery was less than a week ago and that she would have a significant headaches and lots of swelling but she won’t listen to me, it’s making an already stressful situation 100 times worse. I don’t want to push her and I want her to recover at her one pace but given her anxiety I have genuine concerns that this could easily spiral. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and could share their recovery experience so that I can reassure her that this is very normal.
Regards
Dave
