Blood in sputum after 7 weeks treatment

Hi All,

As i have been sharing my journey with TB treatment before, i wanted to also update that i have been released from the hospital after 7 weeks because i tested negative in my 3 sputum tests. Now i am back home and was feeling much better mentally. Today i went to see my pulmonogist and he compared previous and latest xray of my chest and confirmed that the white patches have been greatly reduced and that i am on my way to recovery. Here is the surprising bit. Today suddenly i coughed up blood. It was a small amount but still i had only coughed up blood when i was initially diagnosed with Pulmonary TB and it had disappeared 2 weeks into the treatment. So now seeing it again gives me fear that i am still affected by this and that my lungs are still suffering. Did anyone had similar experience and know if these things happens? I told my doctor and he said it is a part of the healing process. So i am a bit relieved but not fully convinced. Please let me know what you guys think

I experienced the same thing, and my doctor also said it’s part of the healing due to so much damage causing lots of inflammation and tiny capillaries bleeding. My doctor was correct and it settled down. You will be fine

Hi hottchoc, thank you very much for your reply. Yes, my doctor said the same. He even tested my blood to check for any infection just to be sure but it came out negative. So i guess it just happens due to cavity in the lungs.
