Hi , my sister had lungs active TB and holes and water so she have been treated for 9.months and they stopped in October her treatment. They check her lungs and they was happy with it and she is cured they said . Now she got Corona in 25 of December just today she go out from self isolation she had mild sympthoms , plus she have asthma but she wasnt that bad just till now she still coughing a bit and feeling tired HSI saying need a time and some people feel like sympthoms for long time. Now we are worried if her TB can reactive again . Can you please advice should we wait for February to get checked as TB team wanted after 4 months from last time to get check or should we be worried now that its possible to get reactive again so quick?
CAN TB reactive if you got Covid -19?: Hi , my... - TB Alert
CAN TB reactive if you got Covid -19?
I am still under TB treatment. I think you should check for symptoms like cough, lack of appetite, weight loss etc for TB. If the TB treatment went fine you wont have bacteria left to be activated again. Anyways, I recommend your sister maintain good diet. Weak body can activate bacteria if present so better maintain good diet.
If the TB was cured then it won’t reactivate. The 4 month check up will give you the answer and show you if it has been cured.
A few people are unlucky and catch TB again at a later date but that doesn’t happen to many people.
Hi
Maria2207. Your poor sister! What an ordeal. I am glad that you are looking out for her.How is she now? It is always best to speak to a doctor about any symptoms that last for longer than three weeks. There are many possible causes, particularly in someone who has had TB, covid-19 and asthma. Definitely give the TB team a call too.
Best wishes,
Helen
