Hi all, hope you are all well and staying safe.

I need some advice..

My partner and I are in a long distance relationship at the moment. A few week ago, he was diagnosed with TB and and was started on a cocktail of antibiotics.

Now, the meds have really started taking their toll on him. His appetite is gone..he won’t anything all day. His moods are all over the place..he’s getting anxiety attacks.

I want to be there for him and I want him to know he’s not alone but it’s so difficult because everything I suggest is a no..everything I offer to do is a no.

I don’t know what to do.

The diagnosis comes as a real shock and can feel overwhelming. It takes time for the medication to start to work but your partner should start feeling a bit better after the first month or so. It also takes time for the body to get used to the medication and for most people, side effects improve.

It is very important to encourage him to talk to his TB team if he is feeling unwell and/or isn’t eating. It is important to eat well and get plenty of rest during treatment.
