Miliary TB

My partner was diagnosed with Miliary TB 4 years ago but has been cured. Does this put him at high risk for Covid19? Should he continue going to work?

Hi Duck_Y having had TB in itself doesn’t put you more at risk, however if you have any lasting damage I.e fibrosis, breathlessness, atelectasis etc then probably will have more risk. But hopefully, like the rest of us keep safe and keep well x

Hi Duck_Y,

Did the TB affect your partner's lungs and, if so, has it caused lasting damage? It is lung damage that is considered the risk factor for covid-19.

Also, how is your partner's health otherwise. I know miliary TB is associated with immuno-supressive conditions or illnesses which are risk factors for covid-19.

I can't answer the question about whether he should continue working, but these are things to bear in mind and to discuss with his GP if there is cause for concern.

Best wishes,

Helen
