Leicester breath testing for TB NEWS

News from Leicester testing for Tuberculosis by breath. The listener had to be quick to hear on the NEWS..... a doctor in Leicester who was being interviewed re the Corona virus testing by gauze inside a mask but he said that the test was primarily for Tuberculosis testing for bacteria. Is it the PCR test?

It seems these 'cat out of the bag' statements from the health professionals confirms that there is still a great deal of undercover 'goings on' that is not publicized, or is it just me who is asleep all week or perhaps all year for that matter?

I wonder where else this type of testing is happening for TB. Bradford, Birmingham and not least perhaps Nottingham where the new 'Actiphage' blood test is said to have been 'born'. Is it the NHS secret service coming into play?

I emailed the Professor who is the lead researcher in the Actiphage phenomenon

but she replied that 'it is early days yet' and that is what anyone no doubt gets. Of course any one with just a bit of kokum already knows that. However I did email one of the senior persons in the company who owns the actiphage research but I did not get answers that directed any person to obtaining information re how to get onto a research project for that test........ I ask myself is that person reading this post?

I spotted this too and it looks like a useful development - particularly as TB is more prevalent in resource poor countries where more sophisticated technology can be too expensive and difficult to run.

Thank you Helen. I read the Lancet article and found it very enlightening as you no doubt did. It seems as time goes on the detection of TB will be more proficient. The PCR tests seem to be fantastic.You may well have noticed that the breath alone without the 'cough' is sufficient to infect but that has not been 'rubber stamped'. Although the little blighters are not seen by the naked eye, they are there as sure as eggs is eggs. The question is how long do they survive when they are cooled off?

I saw a bit of info quite some time ago where certain E coli can live after being in contact with boiling water for a few minutes! The mind boggles!
